Festival of Angels 26th November - 18th December 2011

Sixty angels are on display in All Saints Parish Church at the moment.  They are the creation of the Holmfirth based artist, Celia Kilner. The subjects are taken from paintings of angels from across the world, across the ages and across all religious persuasions from fifth century Egypt to a pre-Raphaelite style 'St Cecilia' by J. W. Waterhouse.

For the Festival period, local businesses have been asked to display an angel in a prominent position on their premises and organisations have been invited to bring an angel or angels of their creation to church.  We also hope that householders will join in the fun by putting an angel in their window or garden so that the whole community is involved and visitors to town are met by hosts of angels!

Everybody is invited to an Opening Event on 29th November at 7pm and the following Saturday, 3rd December there will be a Sing-along Messiah. Bishop Humphrey will lead the 11am service on 11th December and that evening the High Peak Wind Band will entertain us at 7:00pm.  A showing of 'A Wonderful Life' will take place on Thursday 8th December at 7pm. The final event of the Festival will be a candlelit Carol Service at 6pm on Sunday, 18th December.

We hope that you will all come to see this amazing spectacle - around town and in church.  Look out for posters that will give further details and information regarding the late opening of church on some days.
