 | The 181st Bakewell Show will take place on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th August 2011with some horse classes once again taking place on Tuesday 2nd.
We are looking forward to the 2011 Show, along with several regular favorites such as the sheep show, beach, mounted games and 15 minute theatre; we are welcoming back the riveting Chariots of Fire Display refined to include a pair of driving sheep and a ride and drive bullock!
The Bakewell Show is a fun day out for all the family and in 2011 will be even better value for money than ever before! We have eliminated the children’s entry fee for any child under the age of 16. (Children must be accompanied by an adult)

Acclaimed London-based dancer and choreographer Charlie England has devised a one-off dance workshop in collaboration with Bakewell Arts Festival. Open to anyone aged 13 and upwards, the workshop will consist of basic dance techniques, a unique chance to learn how to audition for a West End musical, culminating in learning and performing a routine in front of friends and family. Friday 12th August. Mills and Chimneys – Medway Community Community Centre, Bakewell Part of - Bakewell Arts Festival Put together in 2010 as part of Derbyshire Literature Festival the Mills and Chimneys project brought together a group of musicians from all ages and backgrounds to write and perform songs inspired by the Derbyshire landscape and it’s many traditions. The project has seen sell out concerts and enthusiastic audience responses. Recordings made during the project achieved critical acclaim and future plans include collaborations with Viva Orchestra. For this specials concert the musicians – David Gibb, Lucy Ward, Julian Butt, Sarah Matthews, Elly Lucas and Mike smith come together for a great evening of music and stories and will also perform music from individual projects.
I enjoyed the cross- fertilisation of ideas and arrangements presented on the tracks, which left me wanting more!

This is a 3 day family festival starting on the evening of Friday 12th August through to early evening of Sunday 14th featuring some of the finest acoustic music from across the world.
Set on the showground in the picturesque market town of Bakewell this music weekend will have acoustic bands representing all genres of music from Folk, Latin, Country and Bluegrass right through to Acoustic Jazz, Rock and Blues.  | Farmers Markets are an opportunity to buy food and local products direct from local farmers, producers and craftsmen. They sell only products which have been grown, raised, baked or caught locally, normally within 30 miles. They do not sell GM foods. Many stallholders will be registered organic producers.

The Oxfam Supporters' Group invites you to come and visit some of Bakewell's Secret gardens on Sunday 28th August from 2.0pm -6.0pm.The gardens are in the Butts Road to Yeld Road area. A £4 payment will ensure access to all the gardens. There will be gardens of all shapes and sizes,with a great variety of plants and garden design.You will find new views of Bakewell and the surrounding area will be opened up.
