Motorcycle Museum Open 3rd - 5th May 2008
The M and C Collection on Matlock Street has been put together by Peter Mather and Phil Crosby of Bakewell and includes the mundane 'get-you-to-work' bikes through to the exotic sports tourers; From trials bikes and scramblers to speedway and racing machines. The collection is intended to reflect something of the development of the motorcycle from 1900 to the mid 1970's The purpose in opening this display to the public is two-fold, firstly that visitors may enjoy the fine engineering of British motorcycles and secondly, that a local charity might benefit from any proceeds received. Both Peter and Phil are volunteer drivers for Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport, a registered charity operating wheelchair accessible minibusses for the comunity in the Peak National park and is subject for there 'Motorcycles for Charity' project. To compliment the motorcycles a fascinating array of period motor and motorcycling memorabilia is displayed providing a 'walk down memory lane' for many visitors and for the younger generation, an insight into 'days gone by'.

We are delighted to be hosting a 2008 Race for Life event at Bakewell Showground. We'd love you to take part and help us smash our fundraising target of £84000 - and have a great time with family and friends too!

The event starts at 10:30, but please make sure you arrive an hour before so that you can take part in the warm-up.

Our 5km course will take you round Bakewell Showground, and the surrounding areas. It's a fantastic location, and this year we are hoping to see 1100 women run, jog or walk the course to help more people survive cancer.
